New TBO Extensions for Continental Engines
Continental Motors, Inc. recently announced TBO increases up to 400 hours on their Gold Standard factory produced engines. TBO, or Time between overhaul, is the manufacturer’s recommended number of running hours before an aircraft engine or other component requires overhauling.
Thanks to technological and manufacturing improvements, most engine models made after February 2012 will benefit from an increase of 200 hours, while frequent flyers can receive up to 400 hours. In this case, frequent flyers are defined as owners who fly more than 40 hours a month.
The Continental Motors Factory engines that are eligible for the TBO extension are designated by the serial number 1006000 and higher.
Genuine factory engines have always been the best option for your Cessna aircraft. In fact, a genuine factory engine adds at least 10% to the value of your aircraft. The new TBO increases mean that a factory engine will now save you thousands.
