Magneto Maintenance: Get the Most Out of Your Aircraft

As you can imagine, it is dangerous to operate an aircraft without performing consistent inspections on your engine parts, and your engine magneto is no exception. It is typically recommended to get a full inspection of your magneto every 500 hours. This is not only necessary for the pilot and passengers' safety, but also for the longevity of your aircraft. Exceeding 500 hours without a magneto overhaul or replacement can lead to circumstances nobody wants, such as mid-flight complications or engine failure.

However, the 500-hour recommendation doesn't mean that every magneto must be replaced with an entirely new one. After all, a magneto overhaul can be a cost-effective way to keep your engine running smooth, safe, and proper. The internal mechanisms of the magneto can be replaced with new parts, therefore making your aircraft ready for another 500 hours of flying time! Take Kelly Aero, LLC for example, available here at Air Power, Inc. Kelly Aero manufactures FAA/PMA approved aircraft magnetos, ignition leads, harnesses, & replacement parts for general aviation & military customers and is the world's larget OEM for aftermarket parts used in Bendix and Slick magnetos.

Here at Air Power, Inc. we offer only the best to our customers, which is why we proudly distribute Kelly Aero products. Operating an aircraft with a worn out magneto poses serious safety risks, which is why it is necessary to ensure your magneto is inspected at the proper time intervals. It is always "better to be safe than sorry"!
